SHORT PROJECT DESCRIPTION (500 characters)
YOU-DARE (YOUth Debunking the Gendered Arguments of far-Right Extremism) is an EU-funded project, running from 2025 to 2028, exploring gender dynamics within far-right discourses across eight European countries. Using an intersectional approach, it investigates the ways in which far-right youth groups leaders and influencers construct and mobilise gender identities, and how these narratives impact democratic values as they become normalised. The project aims to uncover the complexities of far-right ideologies and to develop strategies and tools to strengthen democratic values.
MEDIUM PROJECT DESCRIPTION (1200 characters)
YOU-DARE (YOUth Debunking the Gendered Arguments of far-Right Extremism) is an EU-funded project advancing an interdisciplinary programme to study and address the gendered constructions of far-right youth groups and leaders, along with their normalisation in the mainstream, across 8 countries (DK, ES, UK, FR, HU, IT, RO, SE). The project innovates on the current state of the art in four ways:
- By challenging existing oversimplifications of far-right ideas on gender and adopting an intersectional lens to expose their contradictions and complexities.
- By concentrating on youth, an often-overlooked group within far-right research.
- By examining far-right youth formal leaders at local levels, and emerging forms of leadership such as online influencers.
- By providing a comprehensive analysis of how far-right youth ideas on gender impact democracy.
The project will also unite policymakers, researchers, and youth activists in a Policy Lab to co-create and test innovative solutions countering far-right appeal among youth. These efforts will inform policy recommendations and equip policymakers and public authorities with effective tools.

A pan-European consortium of leading research institutions and organisations is proud to announce the launch of YOU-DARE (YOUth Debunking the gendered Arguments of far-Right Extremism), a new project funded by the European Commission. YOU-DARE brings together interdisciplinary expertise from across Europe to investigate how far-right youth groups construct and mobilise gender identities, and how these narratives erode democratic values and behaviours.
